Get ready to be informed and inspired during BBPDX’s 2019 transportation event, taking place this year during Portland Design Week. As Portland grows into the city it dreams of becoming, we have the opportunity to see the forces that shape our city in a new light.

The public right of way comprises 30% of the real estate of the city. As a society, we must decide what values will drive the allocation of this tremendous shared resource. If we think of getting from point A to point B as a pollution-generating necessity, then our streets occupy the same mental category as our sewers. But if we think of the freedom to move about the region as a human right that better connects us to each other and to the natural world, our creative minds get inspired.

Economic vitality depends on efficient and equitable mobility. The past century of transportation investment has been dominated by the auto and oil industries. What community and business voices will shape the transportation investments of the next 100 years?

Let's challenge ourselves to develop a new perspective on this issue that is rooted in its potential to support equity, commerce, freedom, and quality of life. This event will provide context, inspiration, and concrete tools for civic engagement.

The program will include networking time with light refreshments, a panel discussion of local transportation leaders, and interactive design exercises to get those wheels turning.

Confirmed panelists include:
